What does this fault code mean?
The module registers that the pump current to the front heated oxygen sensor has stopped, and the sensor signal is then set to a default value. Although the code is named as an open circuit, it applies to the pump current. The fault lies in the contacts, the pump current wire or the sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the terminals
- Open circuit in the pump current wire
- Damaged front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code, drive the car and read again to see whether it returns
- 2Inspect the oxygen sensor connector and check it for contact resistance and oxidation. Do not use rust-dissolving spray or grease on it
- 3Use a multimeter to look for a break in the pump current wire, measuring from the back of the contact part if possible
- 4If the wire is intact, try a new oxygen sensor
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment take over
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
