What does this fault code mean?
The module reads the front heated oxygen sensor, which reports on the fuel and air mixture. The code is set when the signal from the sensor is faulty, here too low. The fault can also lie in the pump current wire if the pump current has stopped.
Possible causes
- Short to earth on the signal wire
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the pump current wire
- Damaged front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Codes ECM-P223700 or ECM-P223900 stored at the same time
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the oxygen sensor connections for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation. Do not use rust-dissolving spray or grease in the connector
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no short to earth
- 4If the wiring is in order, try a new oxygen sensor
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment diagnose further
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
