What does this fault code mean?
The module reads the front heated oxygen sensor, which reports on the fuel and air mixture. The code is set when the module finds that the signal from the sensor is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Short to earth on the signal wire
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the sensor connections for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation. Rust-dissolving spray and grease do not belong in the connector
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to earth or supply voltage
- 4If the wiring is in order, try a new oxygen sensor
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop diagnose further
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
