What does this fault code mean?
The module reads the front heated oxygen sensor, which reports on the fuel and air mixture. The code is set when the signal from the sensor is faulty, here at a high level.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Short to earth on the signal wire
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Earth wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the sensor connections for contact resistance and oxidation. Rust-dissolving spray and grease do not belong in the connector
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire and the earth wire are not shorted to supply voltage
- 4If the wiring is in order, try a new oxygen sensor. Have a workshop diagnose further if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
