ECM-P226372 - Turbo / Super Charge Boost System Performance. Mechanical Failures. Actuator stuck open
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) controls turbo pressure by sending a signal to the turbo control valve, which sets the guide vanes of the turbocharger. A position sensor senses the guide vane position. The code is set when the actual position of the guide vanes does not match the requested one, and the vanes may have stuck in the open position.
Possible causes
- Loose, resistive or oxidised terminals
- Air leak in the intake system
- Clogged hoses to the turbocharger or turbo control valve
- Damaged vacuum pressure sensor
- Damaged turbo control valve or position sensor
- Damaged turbocharger
What you can do
- 1Clear the code, drive the car and read again to see whether it returns
- 2Check the wiring and connections to the turbo control valve for loose contacts, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the hose between the vacuum capsule and the turbo control valve is fitted correctly and not blocked or damaged
- 4Confirm that the hose linking the vacuum pump and the turbo control valve sits correctly and is neither blocked nor damaged
- 5Have a workshop check the vacuum capsule, since it needs a vacuum pump connected to its hose
Symptoms you may notice2
- Check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance and lack of power
