ECM-P227900 - Intake Air System Leak. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) continuously compares the signals from the mass airflow meter and the charge pressure sensor and checks that they are reasonable. The code is set when drift is detected in the measured value, which may be caused by a leak in the intake system.
Possible causes
- Air leaks in the intake system
- Loose, resistive or oxidised terminals
- Damaged charge pressure sensor
- Damaged mass airflow meter
What you can do
- 1Clear the code, drive the car and read again to see whether it returns
- 2Look for an air leak in the intake system, for example loose hose clamps and cracked hoses
- 3Check the connectors to the mass airflow meter and the charge pressure sensor for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the airflow and the boost pressure in live data with the engine running and check that they follow each other
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop diagnose further, since the sensors may need checking with equipment
Symptoms you may notice3
- Poor performance and lack of power, especially when starting off
- The car hesitates, surges or runs roughly during acceleration or deceleration
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque is limited
