What does this fault code mean?
The module checks high-side fuel pressure against the maximum allowed level. The pressure depends on engine load and speed, and the check is only made with the engine running. The code is set when fuel pressure is above the highest permitted level.
Possible causes
- Fault in the fuel pump module (PEM)
- High-pressure pump is blocked
- Check valve in the intake manifold is blocked
- Air in the fuel system
What you can do
- 1Check the connector to the fuel pressure control valve for contact resistance, oxidation and breaks
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the fuel pressure control valve have no break and are not shorted to earth or supply voltage
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pump module, the high-pressure pump and the fuel system
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine does not start, or it cranks without starting
- Uneven idle
