What does this fault code mean?

The module checks fuel pressure on the high-pressure side against the lowest allowed level. The pressure depends on engine load and speed, and the check is only made with the engine running. The code is set when fuel pressure is below the lowest permitted level.

    Possible causes

    • Waxing of diesel at low fuel temperatures
    • The fuel pump control module (PEM) has no power supply
    • Fault in the fuel pump control module (PEM)
    • The fuel flow control valve has an electrical fault
    • Blocked fuel filter or leakage on the low-pressure side
    • Fault in the tank fuel pump, which gives too low pressure, or in the low-pressure fuel pressure sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the connector to the fuel pressure control valve for contact resistance, oxidation and breaks
    2. 2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the fuel pressure control valve have no break or short
    3. 3Check that the fuel filter is not blocked and that there is no leakage on the low-pressure side
    4. 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pump control module, the tank fuel pump and the pressure sensor

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • The engine does not start, or it cranks without starting
    • The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly
    • Uneven idle
    • The engine stalls at idle or while driving, sometimes or all the time
    • Poor performance and lack of power

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
