What does this fault code mean?
The module monitors the signal wire feeding the primary winding of ignition coil 1. The code is set when the signal to the primary winding is too high.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged ignition coil
What you can do
- 1Clear the code, drive the car and read again to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to ignition coil 1 is not shorted to supply voltage
- 3If the wire is in order, ignition coil 1 may be damaged and need replacing
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment diagnose further
Symptoms you may notice2
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
- Misfiring, so not every cylinder fires
