What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns ignition coil 2. The signal to the primary winding is too low, which may be caused by the signal wire being shorted to earth.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Damaged ignition coil
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Clear the code and drive the car. Then read again to see whether it comes back
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to ignition coil 2 is not shorted to earth
- 4If the wire is in order, the ignition coil may be damaged. Have a workshop confirm this before it is replaced
Symptoms you may notice2
- Check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance and lack of power
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
