What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) reads how much current the pump in the leak diagnostic unit draws while the leak test runs. The code is set when the pump's power consumption falls below a certain value during the reference phase, that is, at the start of the test.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged leak diagnostic unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact; their locations are shown in the car's owner's manual
- 2Inspect the connector to the leak diagnostic unit for loose contacts and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, run the fuel tank leak test and see whether the result points to the leak diagnostic unit
- 4Visually check the hoses and connections on the leak diagnostic unit, canister and filler pipe for damage or loose fitting
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the leak diagnostic unit needs replacing
