What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the control signal for the heater element in the leakage diagnosis pump. The engine control module (ECM) sets it when it registers a fault in the signal, for example an open circuit in the signal wire. The fault can show as the engine warning lamp lighting up.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged leakage diagnosis pump
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact; see the car's owner's manual for where they are
- 2Read and clear the code and see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector to the leak diagnostic unit for loose contacts and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the heater element has no open circuit
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the leak diagnostic pump and the wiring
