What does this fault code mean?
This code is event controlled and is meant as information, not as a sign that the engine control module (ECM) is faulty. The control module compares the EGR valve position sensor value with a desired value, and the code is set when it takes too long for the valve to reach the position requested.
Possible causes
- The code is an information code and is not caused by any fault that needs to be remedied
What you can do
- 1The code is not a fault that needs remedying, so start by checking whether the symptoms are actually noticed when driving
- 2Check that the air intake and the hoses in the engine bay are not leaking and are undamaged
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read and clear the code and see whether it returns when the engine runs
- 4If the symptoms remain, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the EGR system
Symptoms you may notice2
- Uneven idle
- The car runs poorly and lacks power
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
