What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) registers that the signal from the valve in the leak diagnostic unit is missing while the valve is deactivated, and then sets the code.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the power wire
- Damaged valve in the leak diagnostic unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the circuit is intact; its location is shown in the car's owner's manual
- 2Check the connector to the leak diagnostic unit for contact resistance, meaning loose contacts and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, command the valve of the leak diagnostic unit open and listen for a click. If nothing is heard, the fault is present right now
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the leak diagnostic unit have no open circuit
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the valve in the leak diagnostic unit
