What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the valve in the leakage diagnosis pump, and the valve is taken to be damaged when the current falls too slowly or not at all as the airflow switches to pressurising the tank system. The code is set after the reference phase of the leakage diagnosis.
Possible causes
- Dirt or moisture in the pump
- The pump valve has seized
- Damaged leakage diagnosis pump
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact; their locations are shown in the car's owner's manual
- 2Check that the hoses and connections on the leak diagnostic unit, canister, EVAP valve and filler pipe are not damaged or loosely fitted
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, run the fuel tank leak test and see whether the result points to the leak diagnostic unit
- 4Have a workshop check the engine control module software; on cars of model year 2007–2008 this should be done before the leak fault is traced
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the leak diagnostic unit needs replacing
