What does this fault code mean?
Using the pressure upstream and downstream of the diesel particulate filter, the engine control module (ECM) checks that the sensor reading matches the calculated value. The code is set when the signal from the particulate filter pressure sensor does not match that calculation. It can be read while the engine is running.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged particulate filter pressure sensor
- Blocked or swapped hoses to the pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Make sure the pipes running to the pressure sensor are connected the right way round and are not clogged
- 2Check the sensor connector for oxidation and contact resistance
- 3Read the sensor signal with diagnostic equipment, both with the ignition on and at idle
- 4If the reading is wrong, the sensor needs replacing and the workshop must program the new sensor's offset value into the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms
