What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named signal too low, it applies when the signal from the particle filter pressure sensor is incorrect. The engine control module (ECM) measures the pressure upstream and downstream of the filter and checks the signal against a calculated value. The fault may lie in the hoses, which can be loose, pinched or swapped, or in the sensor itself.
Possible causes
- Loose hoses between the pressure sensor and the particle filter
- Pinched or folded hoses between the pressure sensor and the particle filter
- Hoses or pipes to the pressure sensor have been swapped
- Damaged particle filter pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Look at the hoses between the pressure sensor and the particle filter for loose, pinched or folded sections
- 2Make sure the hoses to the pressure sensor are not swapped round
- 3Check that the connections at the pressure sensor are firmly seated and free from contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the pressure sensor signal in live data with the engine running and see whether the value is reasonable
- 5Have a workshop reset the adaptation; if the fault remains after a new service regeneration, the filter may need replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine warning lamp (Check engine) lights up or behaves abnormally
