What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the pressure difference before and after the particle filter and sets the code when the sensor's reading is wrong. The code can be set when the pressure sensor has frozen, so the sensor may need to thaw before the fault is checked.
Possible causes
- The sensor is frozen solid
- Damaged differential pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1If the car has been standing outside in cold weather, leave it indoors for a while, as the sensor may have frozen
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the sensor signal in live data with the ignition on and with the engine at idle
- 3Have a workshop check the differential pressure sensor with diagnostic equipment and replace it if it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
