What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) measures the pressure upstream and downstream of the particle filter. When the pressure sensor signal ends up too high compared with a calculated value, the code is set, and it concerns the signal from the particle filter sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Ground wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged particle filter pressure sensor
- Break in the connections
What you can do
- 1Inspect the connectors and wiring to the pressure sensor for chafing and pinching that could have caused contact with supply voltage
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the pressure sensor has no contact with supply voltage
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the ground wire to the pressure sensor has no contact with supply voltage
- 4If the sensor is replaced, a workshop needs to program the control module with the new sensor's offset value
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the particle filter pressure sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice4
- The car runs poorly and lacks power, even when pulling away from standstill
- The engine hesitates or surges during acceleration, deceleration or at steady speed
- The engine warning lamp (Check engine) lights up or behaves abnormally
- A warning symbol and a text message appear in the display
What the fault can affect3
- Engine output, speed and torque are limited
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control is lost
- Burning of soot particles does not take place
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
