What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the pressure ahead of and behind the particle filter and compares the sensor signal with a calculated value. The code is stored when the signal from the sensor is outside a predefined value. Possible causes are hoses or pipes to the pressure sensor that have been switched, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Hoses or pipes to the particle filter pressure sensor have been switched
- Damaged particle filter pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the hoses or pipes to the particle filter pressure sensor have not been switched, and check them for damage and leaks
- 2Check that the connector to the pressure sensor is secure and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the pressure sensor receives supply voltage at the connector with the ignition on
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the pressure sensor value in live data with the engine off and then at idle to see whether it follows
- 5If the pressure sensor is replaced, have a workshop program the engine control module with the new sensor's offset value
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine lamp may come on or behave abnormally
