What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the pump that cools the EGR valve. The code is stored when the signal from the EGR cooler coolant pump is incorrect, and The causes are a signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage or a defective coolant pump.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Defective coolant pump for the EGR cooler
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the control signal to the coolant pump in live data and see whether it stays constantly high
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check that the connector to the coolant pump is secure and free from oxidation and moisture
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not short-circuited to plus
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pump
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine lamp may come on or behave abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control does not take place
