What does this fault code mean?
Through CAN communication, the central electronic module (CEM) informs the engine control module about overvoltage in the power supply system, and the code is then stored. The code is always stored together with another code for the power supply system, so both should be included in the fault-tracing.
Possible causes
- A charger delivering excessive charge voltage was connected earlier
- Damaged alternator control module (ACM, charge regulator)
What you can do
- 1Read all fault codes in the control modules and identify those belonging to the power supply; fault-trace them together with this code
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the battery voltage with the engine running and see whether it seems high compared with what is normal
- 3Ask yourself whether a battery charger has been connected to the battery before; a charger with too high charge voltage can cause this code
- 4If the overvoltage remains after these checks, have a workshop try a new control module for the generator
Symptoms you may notice2
- The electrolyte in the battery boils with the engine running
- The headlamp bulb blows
