What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors its own internal components and functions. The code is stored when an internal voltage-related fault has occurred in the ECM itself. If the fault was temporary it will no longer be present when the code is read, and the fault is then judged case by case.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the engine control module
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition on, wait a moment and read the fault status. If the code is not active, the fault may have been intermittent
- 2Clear the code and check after a period of driving whether it comes back
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, check the fault counter and the freeze-frame values to see how often the fault has occurred
- 4If the fault returns, the engine control module must be replaced, which a workshop does
