What does this fault code mean?
The ECM keeps track of engine oil level. The code is stored when the calculated value falls outside its permitted range. Diesel can mix into the oil during particle filter regeneration, which raises the oil level, and then the code for low oil quality may be stored at the same time.
Possible causes
- Oil level too high
What you can do
- 1Check the oil level with the dipstick to see whether it really is too high
- 2If the engine oil is diluted with diesel, an oil change is needed. If the level is too high, excess oil can be drained out
- 3Have a workshop adapt the control module's calculated oil level to the actual level after an oil change or draining
- 4If the code for low oil quality is also stored, they often have the same cause, so fault-trace them together
Symptoms you may notice2
- Incorrect fluid level in the lubrication system
- Text message in the display
