What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named circuit voltage out of range, it concerns the calculated average value of the engine oil level. The ECM monitors the oil level and stores the code when that average is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Oil level too low
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals (see also ECM-P250A16)
- Damaged oil level sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with the ignition on and note whether the fault is still active
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the oil level with the dipstick and compare it with what seems reasonable for the car
- 4Check the connector to the oil level sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop assess the oil level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
