What does this fault code mean?
The fault is recorded as intermittent, which means it has been present but is not necessarily present now. The ECM monitors the sensor output and stores the code when it falls outside a reasonable operating range. This may be caused by an oil level that is too high or a damaged oil level sensor.
Possible causes
- Oil level too high
- Damaged oil level sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with the engine idling. If the code is not active, the fault may be sporadic
- 2Check the oil level with the dipstick and see whether it is above the marked level
- 3Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oil level value in live data at idle and compare it with the dipstick
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the oil level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
