What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the sensor output. The code is stored when that output is missing, which may be caused by the signal cable being shorted to ground or by a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged oil level sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with the engine running and note whether the fault is still active
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable from the oil level sensor is not short-circuited to ground (body)
- 4Check that the connector to the oil level sensor is secure and clean
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the oil level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The oil pressure warning lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
