What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the voltage across the oil level sensor, whose resistance changes with the oil level. The code is stored when the control module detects a fault in that measurement. Possible causes are a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, an oil level that is too low, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Oil level too low
- Damaged oil level sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the oil level with the dipstick. If it is too low, top up with the correct oil
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the oil level sensor is not shorted to plus
- 4Check that the connector to the oil level sensor is secure
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the oil level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
