What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the A/C compressor solenoid with a PWM signal through an internal power stage. The code is stored when there is a fault on the output of that stage. It is checked with the engine running and A/C activated, and an open circuit in the signal or poor contact may be behind it.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal line from the engine control module
- Damaged solenoid in the A/C compressor
What you can do
- 1Start the engine with A/C switched on and read the fault status. If the code is not active, the fault may have been intermittent
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector to the A/C compressor solenoid for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal line from the engine control module to the A/C compressor has no open circuit
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the solenoid in the A/C compressor
Symptoms you may notice4
- The air conditioning is not cold enough in the rear section
- The air conditioning cools slowly in the rear section
- The air conditioning is not cold enough in the front section
- The air conditioning does not work
