What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module controls the A/C compressor stroke volume through a control valve driven by a PWM signal, and checks the valve's performance. The code is stored when the valve signal falls outside the limit values, here on the high side. Possible causes are a short to supply voltage or ground in the signal wire, an open circuit in the supply wire or a damaged valve.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the voltage supply cable
- Damaged control valve (solenoid)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with A/C switched on and the engine running. If the code is not active, the fault may have been intermittent
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector at the A/C compressor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the control valve is not short-circuited to plus
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control valve in the A/C compressor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Uneven cooling from the A/C system
