What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the A/C compressor solenoid with a PWM signal through an internal power stage. The code is stored when the output of that stage is faulty.
Possible causes
- Signal line from the engine control module short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged solenoid in the A/C compressor
- Signal line from the engine control module short-circuited to ground (see ECM-P252011)
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors (see ECM-P251913)
- Open circuit in the signal line from the engine control module (see ECM-P251913)
- Internal fault in the engine control module (see ECM-P251919)
What you can do
- 1Start the engine with A/C switched on and see whether the code returns
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal line from the engine control module to the A/C compressor is not short-circuited to plus (supply voltage)
- 4Check the connectors at the A/C compressor and the engine control module for oxidation and loose contacts
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the A/C compressor solenoid and the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- No cooling effect from the A/C system
- The air conditioning is not cold enough in the rear section
- The air conditioning cools slowly in the rear section
- The air conditioning is not cold enough in the front section
- The air conditioning does not work
