What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the A/C compressor solenoid with a PWM signal through an internal power stage and compares the signal at its output. The code is stored when the signal is too low. Causes can be short circuits in the signal or ground wire, open circuits in the wiring or a damaged solenoid.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Ground wire shorted to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire, ground wire or voltage supply
- Damaged solenoid
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the A/C compressor and read the solenoid control signal in live data
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector at the A/C compressor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal and ground wires to the A/C compressor have no open circuit and are not shorted to each other, to ground or to plus
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the solenoid in the A/C compressor

- The air conditioning cools slowly in the rear section
