What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns an incorrect PWM signal from the combined sensor for oil quality, level and temperature. The cause may be a supply or signal wire with an open circuit or a short to voltage, but a damaged sensor or a poor connection can also be behind it.
Possible causes
- Supply open or shorted to voltage, or the signal wire is open or shorted to voltage
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections (see ECM-P252A1C)
- Damaged oil level sensor
- Voltage supply short-circuited to ground (see ECM-P252A16)
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground (see ECM-P252A16)
- Intermittent open circuit in the signal wire (see ECM-P252A1C)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with the ignition on and see whether the fault is still active
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply and signal wires to the combined sensor are not short-circuited to plus
- 4Check the connector to the combined sensor and make sure it is secure and clean
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the combined sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
