What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns an incorrect PWM signal from the combined sensor for oil quality, level and temperature, even though the name refers to a voltage out of range. Contact faults, an intermittent break in the signal wire or a damaged sensor may lie behind it.
Possible causes
- Supply open or shorted to voltage, or the signal wire is (see ECM-P252A17)
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Intermittent open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged oil level sensor
- Voltage supply short-circuited to ground (see ECM-P252A16)
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground (see ECM-P252A16)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with the ignition on and see whether the fault is still active
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector to the combined sensor and make sure it is secure and clean
- 4Because the break may be intermittent, read the fault status again after the connectors have been checked
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the combined sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
