What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors engine oil level and temperature with a combined sensor. The code concerns an incorrect frequency of the PWM signal from that sensor and is set when the signal does not match what is expected. The fault can lie in the wiring or in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Supply open or shorted to voltage, or the signal wire is
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged oil level sensor
- Voltage supply short-circuited to ground
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Intermittent open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with the ignition on and see whether the fault is still active
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector to the combined sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the sensor has no open circuit and is not short-circuited to ground or plus
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the combined sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
