What does this fault code mean?
The oil level sensor reports engine oil level and oil quality to the ECM. The code is stored when the oil quality signal is faulty. Possible causes are poor contact, an open circuit in the signal or power supply, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Damaged oil level sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the connector of the oil level sensor for contact resistance and oxidation; clean and remedy it if needed
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire and the power supply to the oil level sensor have no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault status with the engine running and see whether the fault is active
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the oil level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
