What does this fault code mean?
The ECM receives oil level, oil temperature and oil quality from a combined sensor as a pulse train, where the pulse length gives the value. The code is stored when the oil quality pulse is too low.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Damaged oil level sensor
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage (see ECM-P252D00)
- Damaged oil quality sensor (see ECM-P252D00)
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2Check the connector to the combined sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the combined sensor is not short-circuited to ground (body)
- 4Read the fault status with the ignition on and see whether the fault is still active
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the combined sensor
