What does this fault code mean?
The combined sensor for oil temperature, level and quality sends its values to the ECM as a pulse train. The code is stored when the oil quality pulse is too high.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged oil level sensor
- Damaged oil quality sensor
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground (see ECM-P252C00)
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors (see ECM-P252C00)
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and check whether the code is active now
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector to the combined sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the combined sensor is not short-circuited to plus
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the combined sensor
