What does this fault code mean?
The fuel pressure sensor on the low-pressure side, just before the high-pressure pump, sends a signal to the engine control module. The code is stored when the signal is too high. Possible causes are poor contact, a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, an open circuit in the signal or ground wire, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Poor or oxidised terminals and connections
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the signal ground wire
- Damaged low-pressure fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Start the engine, warm it up and read the fault status; if the fault is not active, it may have been intermittent
- 2Check the connector of the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation; clean and remedy it if needed
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to plus and has no open circuit
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the ground wire to the sensor has no open circuit
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
