What does this fault code mean?
Even though the code is named after multi-function input B, it concerns the signal from the central electronic module (CEM), which the engine control module monitors. The fault is set when that signal is wrong. The code is stored in the CEM first and then in the engine control module, so the root fault lies in the CEM.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which should be traced first
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the CEM and fix the root fault there before doing anything in the engine control module
- 2This code can only be erased once the root fault is fixed and its own code is gone
- 3If the code remains after work on the CEM, a workshop with diagnostic equipment can find out why the engine control module still receives a faulty signal from the CEM
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
