What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) operates the relay that drives the electric brake vacuum pump, which assists the brake booster. The code is set when the heat in the power stage that activates the pump becomes too high. The cause is a damaged engine control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring to the vacuum pump for chafing and loose connectors
- 2The engine control module has logged an internal fault, which is fixed by replacing the module; leave that job to a workshop
- 3Do not keep driving if the brake pedal becomes hard to press; have a workshop fix the fault
Symptoms you may notice2
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- Brake pedal requires more effort than normal
