What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) keeps watch over the coolant pump relay. Even though the code is named stuck off, it means the relay has jammed in the open position. The coolant pump can then run at full speed, which shows up as uneven temperature in the climate control.
Possible causes
- Loose connection or oxidation in the connector housing
- Short circuit between the connections
- Damaged coolant pump relay
What you can do
- 1Check the connector at the relay for loose connections and oxidation
- 2Look for a short circuit between the connections at the relay with a multimeter
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the coolant pump and see whether it responds
- 4If the fault remains after this check, have a workshop decide whether the coolant pump relay needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- Uneven temperature in the climate control
What the fault can affect1
- The coolant pump runs at full speed
