What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) receives the real-time clock (RTC) signal from the central electronic module (CEM) and keeps checking it after the engine is switched off, during the system afterrun. The code is set when the clock is not updated during that afterrun. Interference on the CAN network or a damaged CEM can cause this.
Possible causes
- Interference on the CAN network
- Damaged central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the CEM and any CAN-related codes, since interference on the CAN network can be the cause
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read out whether the CEM can be read and whether it responds
- 4If the code returns although the CAN network has been checked, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CEM, which may be damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
