What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) takes in the real-time clock signal from the CEM and checks it against an estimated value. The code is set when the signal is not plausible compared with that estimate, and the estimate is based on how different temperatures normally change over time.
Possible causes
- Interference on the CAN network
- Damaged central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the CEM and see whether any CAN-related codes are stored
- 2Check the CAN connectors at the CEM and the engine control module
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check that the CEM responds and appears in the list of control modules
- 4If the code returns after work, have a workshop decide whether the CEM is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
