What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal from the camshaft position sensors for intake and exhaust. The code is set when the signal from both sensors is incorrect or missing, and it is always stored together with another signal-fault code for the camshaft position sensor.
Possible causes
- No signal
- Faulty wiring to the camshaft position sensors
What you can do
- 1Read the codes and fix the separate signal-fault code for the camshaft position sensor first, since this code always comes with it
- 2Check the connectors to the intake and exhaust camshaft sensors for loose contacts and corrosion
- 3Check the sensor wiring for chafing and breaks
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the camshaft sensor signal is present for both intake and exhaust
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop check whether the camshaft position sensor is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect3
- Camshaft control is switched off
- Diagnosis of camshaft control is switched off
