What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the front oxygen sensor on bank 1. The code is set when the calibration current to the sensor has stopped and the sensor signal is implausibly high when fuel is cut off.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation at the connections
- Open circuit in the wire carrying the calibration current
- Damaged front oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the wire carrying the calibration current for a break
- 2Check the oxygen sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation; do not use rust-solvent spray or grease in the connector
- 3If nothing is found, the engine control module may have an internal fault, which is fixed only by replacing it; have a workshop decide
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
