What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) sets fuel pressure through the fuel pump control module (PEM) using a PWM signal. This code concerns fuel pump B and is set when the PWM link from the engine control module to the fuel pump module has no signal.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged fuel pump control module
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the frozen values and fault counter of the code to see when the fault occurred
- 2Check that the fuse for the fuel pump is intact
- 3Check the connectors and the wire between the engine control module and the fuel pump control module for breaks and chafing
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fuel pressure in live data and see whether it follows the pressure the engine control module requests
- 5If nothing is found, have a workshop check the fuel pump control module
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine cranks but does not start
- Engine may stall while driving
