What does this fault code mean?
Fuel pump B has a control signal from the engine control module (ECM) to the fuel pump control module (PEM). The code is set when the ECM finds a fault in that signal. The cause can be a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, a damaged control module or a fault registered by the CEM.
Possible causes
- A fault logged by the CEM
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged fuel pump control module
What you can do
- 1Deal first with any codes stored in the CEM
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the control signal wire has no contact with the positive supply
- 3Check the wire from the CEM to the fuel pump control module for chafing and pinching that could let it touch the supply voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the fuel pump and check that it starts
- 5If nothing is found, have a workshop check the fuel pump control module
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine cranks but does not start
- Engine may stall while driving, at any time
