What does this fault code mean?

The fuel pressure control has reached its highest value, but the wanted fuel pressure still cannot be reached. The engine control module (ECM) regulates the pressure through the fuel pump control module with a PWM signal. Causes can be leaks, a faulty pressure sensor, a damaged pump or a damaged pump control module.

    Possible causes

    • Leakage in the fuel lines
    • Damaged fuel pressure sensor
    • Damaged fuel pump
    • Damaged fuel pump control module

    What you can do

    1. 1If the car has codes for the fuel pressure sensor or the atmospheric pressure sensor, fix those first
    2. 2Look for leaks in the fuel lines, both visible ones and at the connections
    3. 3Check the fuel filter for blockage
    4. 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data with the engine running and compare it with the pressure the engine control module requests
    5. 5If nothing is found, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pump and the control module

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
    • Driving feels poor or the car lacks power
    • Engine stalls while driving, at unpredictable times or all the time
    • Engine stalls at idle, at unpredictable times or all the time

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
