What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) drives a solenoid for the coolant degassing valve (Degas), which is used to regulate engine temperature more efficiently. The code is set when there is an open circuit between the engine control module and that solenoid.
Possible causes
- Damaged solenoid
- Open circuit on the signal wire
- Damaged connector
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the solenoid are intact
- 2Check the connector at the solenoid for damage and loose contacts
- 3Follow the signal wire between the engine control module and the solenoid and look for a break with a multimeter
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the solenoid and check that it responds
- 5If nothing is found, have a workshop decide whether the solenoid or the engine control module is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
